Supervision and Consultation

My supervisory work started as an extension of interest in professional practice. This eventually led me to pursue the diploma in psychotherapy supervision offered by the Scarborough Psychotherapy Training Institute. I had the privilege to train with Ken Evans who is an authority in the field of psychotherapy supervision and co-author of Psychotherapy Supervision - An Integrative Rational Approach to Psychotherapy Supervision (2000). I am experienced in supervising established professionals in the psychological, counselling and therapeutic professions working within health and educational settings. For the past six years I have been involved in the supervision of trainee psychologists and therapists often working in close collaboration with academic staff running training programmes. I offer both individual and group supervision.

I currently work as a Professional Tutor on the Practitioner Doctorate in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology course at the University of Surrey where I am actively involved in the training and supervision of trainees. I am listed as one of the Primary Supervisors at the Metanoia Institute in Ealing, London offering supervisory support to trainee psychologists and psychotherapists.

The influence of the relational context inherent to therapeutic and supervisory work is of particular interest to me as I believe this is central to both endeavours. I am also intrigued by the manner in which supervisory practice needs to be sensitive to the practitioner’s stage of development and level of expertise - progressing towards an increasingly creative and collaborative venture.
